# Installation

`driven-pile` is a pure-Python package that depends on NumPy and SciPy. It supports Python 3.11 and later.

``` bash
pip install driven-pile
```

The plot helpers on the result objects use matplotlib, which is an optional extra:

``` bash
pip install "driven-pile[plot]"
```

To work from a clone of the repository with [uv](https://docs.astral.sh/uv/):

``` bash
git clone https://github.com/lornearnold/driven-pile.git
cd driven-pile
uv sync --group dev
uv run pytest -q -m "not slow"
```

## Units

Inputs and outputs are in US customary units throughout: feet, kips, kips per square foot (ksf) and degrees. The method was developed on construction records written in those units.
